Decision

Transport Canada and the Canadian Transportation Agency have taken the following course of action on February 4, 2015 relating to the screening-type environmental assessment of the Highway 69 Four-Laning from North of Magnetawan River to North of Highway 607 (Project 4). The authorities may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the screening report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, the authorities are of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • air quality
  • water quality
  • water quantity
  • sedimentation
  • soil quality
  • vegetation
  • noise levels
  • fauna at risk (as defined under the Species at Risk Act)
  • mammals and/or their habitat
  • amphibians and/or their habitat
  • birds and/or their habitat
  • fish and/or their habitat
  • reptiles and/or their habitat
  • flora at risk (as defined under the Species at Risk Act)
  • physical and/or cultural heritage
  • current use of land and resources for traditional purposes by aboriginal persons
  • structure, site or thing of historic, archaeological, paleontological or architectural significance
  • human health and safety
  • socio-economic impacts

Transport Canada and the Canadian Transportation Agency have determined that a follow-up program, as defined under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (the former Act), is not required for this project.
