DECISION

Infrastructure Canada has taken the following course of action on May 1, 2014 relating to the comprehensive study of the Town of Shelburne Long-term Well Project. The authority may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the comprehensive study report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, the authority is of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects as per section 37 of the former Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • Groundwater quality and quantity
  • Surface water quality and quantity
  • Soils and terrain
  • Fish and fish habitat
  • Vegetation
  • Wildlife and wildlife habitat
  • Air quality
  • Noise and vibration
  • Human health
  • Physical and cultural heritage

A follow-up program to verify the accuracy of the environmental assessment and/or determine the effectiveness of any measures taken to mitigate the adverse environmental effects is required for this project.
