The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The Project aims to extend the operational service life of the ammunition storage capability at Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (CFAD) Dundurn. This will involve replacing deteriorating infrastructure with new structures that can accommodate DND's operational and safety requirements for ammunition storage. The proposed scope of work includes demolishing existing ammunition storage magazines and constructing new ammunition storage structures. Also, the telecommunications hub (former transit facility), temporary carpentry shop, and ammunition demilitarization processing facility are to be demolished. A new carpentry shop, telecom hub and comms network are proposed for construction. The existing septic systems near the current telecom hub and processing facility will be decommissioned. Additionally, the west perimeter gravel road, currently a one-way route, will be widened and paved to become a two-way access route. The redevelopment area will also be regraded to align with the requirements of development plan.
