Zagime Anishinabek Water Treatment Plant and Sewage Pumping Station Upgrade

Zagime Anishinabek First Nations is proposing the construction of a new water treatment plant (WTP) and sewage pumping station (SPS) within NW and NE-16-18-06-W2M. The proposed infrastructure is complete with underground water and sewer mains connecting to the existing subdivision infrastructure.  The new WTP and SPS are expected to have a lifespan of 50+ years with some components and equipment having 10-20 year lifespans.  The proposed project includes the construction of a WTP building, SPS building, water and sewer lines (400 m raw water supply; 200 m treated water distribution main; 250 m sewage force main), power lines, propane tanks for generator at facility, radio or telephone communication to well field, internet and telephone service to both facilities. The existing WTP in the community core will be decommissioned.

Construction activities include site preparation by topsoil and vegetation stripping, rough grading, excavation for foundation, concrete foundations, timber framed structures and installation of mechanical and electrical systems; installation of underground mains. Operations will include monitoring of equipment to ensure stable processes, occasional preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems, periodic cleaning of reservoirs. Decommissioning activities will include decommissioning of existing WTP after new one is in service, disposal of old systems and repurposing building for future uses.
