Reasons for a Federal Assessment

On January 21, 2008, it was determined that an environmental assessment was required in relation to the project because Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation considered providing financial assistance to the proponent.

Project Description (as posted in the Notice of Commencement)

The applicant is seeking financial assistance to upgrade the Renwick Brook Park which is located in Glace Bay. Renwick Brook Park was constructed between 1983 and 1986 and it consists of approximately 4.3 kilometers of walking trails. The upgrades will include recapping the trails, lighting, benches, garbage cans, and landscaping enhancements.

Final Decision

A decision was taken on March 6, 2008 and was that the authority may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the screening report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, the authority is of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
