Reasons for a Federal Assessment
On December 17, 2010, it was determined that an environmental assessment was required in relation to the project because the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency considered providing financial assistance to the proponent.
Project Description (as posted in the Notice of Commencement)
The project consists of building an expansion of approximately 297 square meters (m2) that will be added to the existing building of approximately 372 m2. The building will have a concrete foundation, a wood structure and the siding and roof will be made of steel sheets. In addition, the project consists of updating some of the existing equipment, as well as, purchasing and installing new equipment. Electrical upgrades are also part of the project.
Final Decision
On July 6, 2012, the new Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 came into force which replaced the former Canadian Environmental Assessment Act. As a result, there is no longer a requirement to complete the environmental assessment of this project.
