The Proposed Project

Canada Kuwait Petrochemical Corporation is proposing the construction and operation of a rail yard located approximately six kilometres north of Fort Saskatchewan, within Alberta's Industrial Heartland. As proposed, the Sturgeon Petrochemical Rail Yard Project would support a facility designed to convert propane to polypropylene plastic pellets, and allow for the transportation of these pellets to domestic and international markets. It would include 42 rail tracks totaling up to 25 kilometres in length, as well as loading, storage, bagging and rail car washing facilities. It would also include the construction of a Pembina Rail Line, which would connect the rail yard to the pellet producing facility. Once constructed, the Sturgeon Petrochemical Rail Yard Project would occupy an area of approximately 40 hectares.
