Frontier Oil Sands Mine Project – Final Arguments

November 29, 2018 —The Joint Review Panel (the Panel) assessing the proposed Frontier Oil Sands Mine Project (the Project) intends to have final arguments for the public hearing commence on December 11 at 9 a.m., and continue on December 12, 2018 as needed. The final arguments will be held at Govier Hall, 250 5 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta.

The Joint Review Panel has issued a tentative schedule for the presentation of final arguments which may be adjusted as needed.

The hearing process will be audio webcast for observers who cannot attend in person.

Format of Final Arguments

For final arguments, the proponent will present first, followed by the participants, as determined by the Panel. The proponent will then be given the opportunity to reply to the participants' final arguments. Argument is intended to summarize evidence, highlight the important aspects of the issues, state what the Panel's conclusions, recommendations and decision should be regarding the project and give supporting reasons.

After the Hearing

Following the final arguments and the closing of the public hearing, the Panel will issue a report, setting out the Panel's rationale, conclusions and recommendations regarding the environmental review of the project and a decision on Teck's applications to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER). The report will be submitted to the federal Minister of Environment and Climate Change for decision, to the Government of Alberta, and be made public.
