Cando Sturgeon Rail Terminal Project — Public Comments Invited

March 18, 2019 — The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) must decide whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the proposed Cando Sturgeon Rail Terminal Project, located in Sturgeon County, Alberta.

To help inform this decision, the Agency is seeking comments from the public and Indigenous groups on the project and its potential effects on the environment, as described in the summary of the project description.

All comments received will be considered public. Written comments in either official language must be submitted by April 7, 2019 to:

The Proposed Project

Cando Rail Services Ltd. is proposing the construction and operation of a rail car storage yard located in Sturgeon County, Alberta. As proposed, the Cando Sturgeon Rail Terminal Project will provide additional rail capacity to Alberta's Industrial Heartland and includes a loop track and 32 yard tracks, with the option for an additional 32 yard tracks in the future, and associated infrastructure including a storm water management system.
