Lower Nicola Indian Band Community Solar Gardens Project – Public Comments Invited

May 28, 2020 – Infrastructure Canada must determine whether the proposed Lower Nicola Indian Band Community Solar Gardens Project, located on Lower Nicola Indian Band land, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Infrastructure Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website (https://iaac-aeic.gc.ca/050/evaluations/Protection?culture=en-CA).

The Proposed Project:

The Proponent (Lower Nicola Indian Band, LNIB) intends to install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on key First Nation community and residential buildings in Lower Nicola, BC. The Lower Nicola Indian Band Community Solar Gardens Project (the Project) will involve the installation of solar panels on or near 16 buildings across three reserve lands.The Project would further the community's transition to low carbon, renewable energy sources while creating new economic development opportunities.
