Proposition de projet

The proponent, Queensgate Marina, proposes to complete maintenance dredging within their water lot in the Annacis Channel near 789 South Dyke road, New Westminster, BC. The float homes are currently grounding because of sediment build-up which is unsafe for residents and float home infrastructure. Maintenance dredging was last conducted in 2014. The proposed dredge footprint is 4,000 square metres to a depth of 2.5 metres chart datum with a clamshell bucket in September 2020. Approximately 6,000 cubic metres of sediment will be removed. The proponent is in the process of acquiring a disposal at sea permit from Environment and Climate Change Canada to dispose of the sediment at sea. Two piles and a 100 foot dock will be installed upriver to temporarily moor two float homes at a time to make room for dredging equipment. The two piles and dock will be removed once dredging is complete. Pile installation and removal will be with a vibratory hammer. Water jetting may be completed before and/or after dredging to deepen any remaining areas that are shallow enough to result in float home grounding. The project will take 1 to 2 weeks and will occur during standard port authority construction hours.
