Notice of Determination for the Sand and Gravel Permit - Fond du Lac Airport Resurfacing Project
August 17, 2020 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Sand and Gravel Permit - Fond du Lac Airport Resurfacing Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
The determination was based on the following factors:
- by Band Council Resolution and application for permit, Fond Du Lac First Nation requested that Indigenous Services Canada issue a Sand & Gravel permit to the Ministry of Highways and Infrasturcture for 9,000 tonnes
-Fond du Lac First Nation will receive resource revenue which benefits the First Nation and its membership
-no public comments were received concerning the project
-mitigation measures outlined in operation and restoration plan
Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:
-fuel storage and machinery refueling practices
- species surveys before clearing as specified in ORP
- leveling and restoration of exhausted areas
Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
