The Proposed Project
KCN is proposing to construct a waste transfer station (the project) six km southwest of Kehewin, Alberta, and will be located on the existing access road into the KCN landfill. The project will be approximately 0.6 ha in size.
Currently, household waste is collected in five roll-off bins at the pow-wow grounds, which is then transported to a nearby landfill. Other waste is transported directly to the KCN landfill.
The project is intended to provide a suitable location to deposit divertible material and reduce the amount of landfill bound waste, thus providing a safe and environmentally friendly means of managing solid waste for the KCN.
