Notice of Time Limit Suspension with Reasons

Ottawa — November 20, 2020 — On November 19, 2020, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) suspended the 180-day time limit for the Planning Phase under the Impact Assessment Act for Teck Coal Limited's (the proponent) Castle Project.

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent that the time limit be suspended in order to facilitate alignment with the B.C. environmental assessment process so that it may have sufficient time to provide the Agency with a Detailed Project Description that includes the information prescribed by the Information and Management of Time Limits Regulations.

The Agency will post a notice that the prescribed activities are completed and the 180-day time limit will resume when the Agency accepts the proponent's response to the Summary of Issues and Detailed Project Description.
