Notice of Determination for Muskowekwan Lagoon & Sewage Pumping Station

December 4, 2020 - Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Muskowekwan Lagoon & Sewage Pumping Station is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

-the existing lagoon at Muskowekwan First Nation has reached the end of its life span, and the construction of a new lagoon & sewage pumping station will benefit its membership
-the construction of the lagoon will provide employment opportunities for members of Muskowekwan First Nation
-no comments were received from the public about the project
-mitigation measures are required for the project

Implementation of the following mitigation measures is required for the project:

- waste production is limited to typical construction debris. All waste will be stored in above ground containers and hauled to an offsite regional landfill.
-clean fill will be used a protective cover for the liner. It will be obtained on site from an existing clean fill borrow pit area.

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
