Notice of intent to make a determination

Yorkton Tribal Council Child & Family Services Office Building- Public Comments Invited

January 29, 2021 - Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Yorkton Tribal Council Child & Family Services Office Building located in Yorkton, SK on Kahkewishtahaw IR 72 A-1, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

 The Proposed Project

Yorkton Tribal Council Child & Family Services Office Building

Kahkewistahaw First Nation is planning to build a 12,750 square foot  new office building in Yorkton for Yorkton Tribal Council Child and Family Services.  The building will be located at 510 Broadway St W, Yorkton, SK on the existing reserve lands owned by Kahkewistahaw First Nation. A 150 paved (asphalt) parking stalls will be provided with this building development.  The building footprint area is 12,750 sq. ft.  The total site foot print with the building and parking included is 83,230 sq. ft.

The office building will be constructed and connected to the following utilities: natural gas, power, communication, water, sewer and storm water services.  Utility services will be supplied by the City of Yorkton and the Utility companies. Normal construction waste will be generated from construction activities.  This waste will be recycled when possible, otherwise landfilled. Once the building is operational a recycling bin will be provided as well as a non-recycled material waste bin. The development requires a City of Yorkton Building permit.
