Updated on April 30, 2021

Ottawa — April 30, 2021 — On April 1, 2021, the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (the Agency) suspended the 180-day time limit within which it must provide Suncor Energy Inc. (the proponent) with a notice of the commencement of the impact assessment of the Suncor Base Mine Extension Project.

The Agency has taken this action further to a written request from the proponent to extend the deadline for the comment period on the draft Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines from April 7 to April 30, 2021.

On April 28, 2021, the proponent submitted an additionnal request to extend the time limit suspension from April 30, 2021, to May 7, 2021.

Comments on the draft Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines and draft Public Participation Plan for this project will continue to be accepted until May 7, 2021. When this activity is completed, the Agency will post a notice that the 180-day time limit will resume.
