Notice determination

May 20, 2021– Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed  Bloodvein First Nation Environmental Remedial Actions - 5 PHC Sites is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

The determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • community knowledge;
  • comments received from the public;
  • mitigation measures.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address:

  • Air emissions and dust, soil erosion and stability, precipitation, soil contamination, surface and groundwater quality and contamination,  water table levels and flow, vegetation, fish and fish habitat protections, human health and safety, noise control, and hazardous waste/waste.

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Environmental effects that are within provincial jurisdiction would be addressed through provincial regulations.

Therefore, Indigenous Services Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
