Gimli Harbour Launch Ramp Reconstruction – Gimli, MB – Winter 2021/22 – Public Comments Invited
June 29th, 2021 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Small Craft Harbours Branch, must determine whether the proposed Gimli Harbour Launch Ramp Reconstruction project located in Gimli, MB is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project
Gimli Harbour, Manitoba is located in the town of Gimli, approximately 90km north of Winnipeg, MB. The harbour is an active commercial fishing facility on the West side of Lake Winnipeg under the administration of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Small Craft Harbours Branch (SCH).
Small Craft Harbours Branch, (SCH) is proposing to reconstruct the launch ramp at Gimli Harbour, MB. The scope of work includes the installation and removal of a temporary steel sheet pile cofferdam, demolition and removal of the existing pre-cast launch ramp pads and reinforced concrete slabs and the construction of a new reinforced concrete launch ramp. The work area at Gimli Harbour is approximately 550 m2. The work will be done in frozen water conditions and is scheduled for the winter of 2021/22.
