Alberta Zero Emission Truck Electrification Collaboration Fueling Station

July 24, 2020 – Natural Resources Canada has determined that the proposed Alberta Zero Emissions Truck Electrification Collaboration Fueling Station is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of technical and economically feasible mitigation measures.  No comments were received during the 30 day public comment period. 

Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:

  • adhering to normal working hours;
  • keeping noise level to a minimum;
  • not allowing vehicles to idle when not in use;
  • using normal safe construction practices to minimize noise and exhaust;
  • having trained personnel to dispense fuel;
  • housing equipment in a locked, fenced area;
  • ensuring proper installation and maintenance of equipment to minimize accidents and malfunctions; and
  • continued implementation of the Edmonton International Airport's Environmental Management System which ensures that operations and activities at the airport are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner, and ensures that Edmonton International Airport's environmental policies are satisfied.

Natural Resources Canada is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

Therefore, Natural Resources Canada may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
