New Dock Installation at 1046 Alderside Road – Public comments invited 

December 20, 2021– As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed New Dock Installation at 1046 Alderside Road, Port Moody is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by January 18, 2022

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project 

The proposed dock includes the following features:  

  • A 33-metre-long x 1.2-metre-wide pier supported by six (6) steel piles  
  • A 16.5-metre-long x 1.2-mere-wide ramp 
  • A 28 square metres floating dock supported by four (4) steel piles 

The deck structure will be constructed out of aluminum with thruflow decking to allow for sufficient light penetration. Flotation for the floating dock will be provided via plastic tanks filled with foam. Piles will be installed via a vibratory or drop hammer.
