Construction of New Aircraft Hangar and Associated Taxiway – Public Comments Invited

February 08, 2022 – The Ottawa International Airport Authority (OIAA) must determine whether the proposed construction of a new taxiway and hangar building is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the OIAA is inviting comments from the public regarding the project. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, please consult the Privacy Notice on the Impact Assessment Registry website: https://www.ceaa.gc.ca/050/evaluations

The Proposed Project

Construction of a New Aircraft Hangar and Associated Taxiway – Ottawa International Airport (OIA)

Under the ground lease with Transport Canada, the OIA Authority (OIAA) has a mandate to provide an aviation gateway for Canada's Capital Region and an economic engine that drives prosperity for our community. In order to promote development in the North Field, the OIAA is looking to construct a new taxiway to provide airside access to future aviation-related buildings. The project consists of several components.

  1. Taxiway construction: The taxiway will be located north of Hangar 14 and east of Taxiway Alpha. The taxiway will be constructed to TP312 5th edition standards to accommodate up to AGN VI aircraft.
  2. Extension of Convair Private: Convair Private will be extended to the north to provide access to a new hangar facility being built in the vicinity of Croil Private and Convair Private as part of the project.  
  3. Hangar construction: 200 Convair Private - Hangar and associated parking and apron areas to be constructed north of 250 Convair Private, south of new taxiway in line with the extension of Convair Private.
