The Proposed Project
GroHERE Harvest Ltd will be growing seasonal produce year-round using controlled environment agriculture (CEA) techniques. The intended produce will be sold with the benefit of having locally grown year-round, fresh produce being available to the local market. The facility will be located at the Edmonton International Airport on approximately 3.5 acres of land. The building is planned to be approximately 35 feet in height and cover 65,000 square feet. 45,000 square feet will be used for food production with the remaining being used for general warehousing and office space. There is planned to be 1.5 acres of paved parking. The entire footprint for the project is located on previously disturbed lands. Water consumption at the facility will be approximately 45,000 cubic meters per year. There will be no significant waste or noise generated by the facility. When the facility is completed, it is expected to employ 30-35 personnel on a full time basis operating 7-days per week.

During the course of construction there will be added traffic, large trucks and equipment generating construction related noise. Noise generated is not predicted to create impacts as the project site is surrounded by commercial development at the airport. The construction period is not anticipated to last longer than 5 months after which there should be little impact to the land or surrounding area.
