Notice of intent to make a determination

Basadinaa - Crooked Lake Cottage Lots Head Lease #4 - Zagime Anishinabek First Nation - Public Comments Invited

August 24, 2022 - Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Basadinaa - Crooked Lake Cottage Lots Head Lease #4, located on Sakimay IR #74 and Shesheep IR #74A, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

The project area is comprised of the Designated Cottage Area within Shesheep IR 74A and Sakimay IR 74. The area is not a new development, but the renewal of leases including an inventory of vacant lots on a previously developed cottage lot area. The scope of the project includes the continued construction (as applicable), operation and maintenance of a cottage and/or other dwellings (i.e. mobile home, camper trailer), on a cottage lot (residential/recreational lease) situated on Sakimay First Nation Reserve lands (the project). The environmental assessment framework was designed to satisfy Zagime's environmental management responsibilities under the Delegated Authority level of the Reserve Land and Environmental Management Program (RLEMP) and ISC's responsibilities under the Impact Assessment Act. 

Project components include:

 - existing buildings/structures including a single-story cottage and shed;
 - site services including an overhead electrical service line, underground holding tank and groundwater well supply;
- an inventory of bare lots to be developed in accordance with approved development plans (Basadinaa building permit required),and,
 - miscellaneous landscaping, including gravel surfaces, wood deck, and manicured lawns.
