Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination

January 19, 2023 – Infrastructure Canada and Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Solar Microgrid for Bayside Travel Centre on Paq'tnkek First Nation reserve, in Nova Scotia, is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Infrastructure Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website (

The Proposed Project

Bayside Development Corporation, a business wholly owned by the Paq'tnkek First Nation, is proposing to design, procure, and install a DC microgrid system that incorporates solar PV, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging systems for the Paq'tnkek Mi'kmaw Nation-owned Bayside Travel Centre.
