Weenusk Cultural Ground Replacement – Public Comments Invited

April 4th, 2023Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) must determine whether the proposed Weenusk Cultural Ground Replacement, located in Weenusk, ON is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Weenusk First Nation will replace its existing powwow grounds with a new facility, which will allow Weenusk First Nation to host powwows and other cultural celebrations, to provide a safe space for women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ persons, and to install a memorial for Missing and Murdered Indigneous Women and Girls.
