The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to replace perimeter security fencing at 5 Wing Goose Bay. Project activities are expected to include vegetation/brush removal, removal of existing fencing and gates, and installation of new fencing and gates. Approximately 16 kilometers of new fencing will be installed. The new fencing will be 2.74 meters high chain link fence fabric, with an additional 0.3 meters 3-strand barbed wire overhang top and 0.3 meter fence fabric below grade. The proposed project is expected to be phased, beginning in Summer 2023.
