Secondary nitrogen storage tank - Univar – Public comments invited
April 19, 2023 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed Secondary nitrogen storage tank - Univar, 1545 Bay Street, North Vancouver is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by May 18, 2023.
To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project
Univar Solutions are proposing to install a second nitrogen tank, approximately 11 metres in height and 3 metres in diameter, with the capacity to hold approximately 49,210 litres of liquid nitrogen, for extra storage capacity. The tank would be situated on a new concrete pad with an expected thickness of approximately 0.6 metres. The new tank would be anchor bolted into the ground, connected to the existing nitrogen system and surrounded by protective bollards.
