New Dock Installation - Lot 14 Best Point – Public comments invited 

March 3, 2023 – As part of its Project and Environmental Review process, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority must determine whether the proposed New Dock Installation - Lot 14 Best Point, Waterlot off Lot 14, Best Point, Indian Arm, District of North Vancouver, B.C., are likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. Written comments to be received by April 1, 2023. 

To help inform this determination and a decision on whether or not to approve the proposed project, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.  For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website. In addition, your contact information may be shared with third parties, e.g., the tenant, other relevant agencies, to help respond to your questions and inform possible mitigations.

The proposed project 

The proposed recreational dock would include the following features:   

  • A wooden float, approximately 27 square metres, moored in place with galvanized chain secured to anchor blocks on the south side and dowelled into bedrock on the north side.  
  • A pre-fabricated aluminum pier, approximately 18 metres long and a pre-fabricated aluminum ramp approximately 15 metres long.  
  • An approximate 0.4 metre by 1.2 metre concrete shore block doweled into the exposed bedrock and a concrete column approximately 610 millimetres in diameter founded on a concrete footing approximately 1 metre by 1 metre.  
  • The pier would extend from the shore block to the column and the ramp would extend from the column to the float and include wheels that would ride in guides placed on the float.
