Bigstone Cree Nation & Municipal District No. 17 Sandy Lake: Gas Feeder and Mains at Wabasca IR No. 166 – Public Comments Invited

June 27, 2023, – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Bigstone Cree Nation & Municipal District No. 17 Sandy Lake: Gas Feeder and Mains at Wabasca IR No. 166  project located near Bigstone Cree Nation, Alberta is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

ATCO Gas and Pipelines Ltd. proposes to expand its natural gas main and feeder lines at Bigstone Cree Nation's lands at Wabasca IR No. 166. New infrastructure will include the installation of polyethylene gas main, and service connections of gas pipe. Project planning has included the development of environmental management plans to avoid and mitigate negative environmental impacts, and to monitoring construction activities in accordance with plans approved by Bigstone Cree Nation.
