Gatineau, QC – August 4, 2023 – Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) has determined that the proposed Mi'gmaw Language & Cultural Community Centre is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • Impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • Indigenous knowledge;
  • Community knowledge; and
  • Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

No comments were received during the public commenting period.

Implementation of mitigation measures is required for the project to address potential environmental effects related to:

  • Air and Noise
  • Vegetation
  • Fish/Aquatic wildlife
  • Birds

Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
