The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The completion of upgrades to Woods Trail located with the range and training area of 17 Wing Detachment Dundurn. Woods Trail is 15 kilometers with 5.5 kilometers built up with gravel. The remaining 9.5 kilometers is sand trail, and it runs north to Tamke Road. Upgrading the sand trail to a ten-meter-wide gravel road with side slopes allowing two large vehicles to easily pass each other, provide emergency response vehicles a safer and quicker access route to monitor and combat fires and any medical emergencies, and ensure a safe access route for crews conducting prescribed burns along Woods Trail. A buffer zone of 50 meters before Woods Bridge and 100 meters after it to avoid any proximity with the Brightwater Creek. This section of the road will instead be part of the project to replace the Woods Bridge.
