Launch Ramp Replacement, Gros Cap, Ontario – Public Comments Invited

August 1, 2024 – Fisheries and Oceans Canada must determine whether the proposed Launch Ramp Replacement, located in Gros Cap, Ontario is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Fisheries and Oceans Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Small Craft Harbours are responsible for maintaining a safe and accessible harbours. Repairs to the launch ramp at the Gros Cap Harbour are required in order to maintain a safe and functioning harbour.

Fisheries and Ocean Canada - Small Craft Harbours are proposing to remove and replace the existing concrete launch ramp with a new concrete launch ramp at the Gros Cap Harbour site. The existing structure is deteriorating and damaged. The new ramp will include a base rock apron, and new concrete pads. An upland section of the proposed launch ramp will require cast in place concrete. The project will involve upland and in-water work.

The contractor will use a combination of heavy equipment (likely an excavator, dump trucks and skid steer) to complete the proposed work.
