Project Description:
The Canadian National Railway Company (the Proponent) is planning to construct and operate of an intermodal logistics hub designed to transfer containers between trucks and railcars in an area of rapid urban growth. The Project would include a railway yard with more than 20 kilometres of track and be located in Milton, Ontario, about 50 kilometres west of Toronto.

Overview:
The Enforcement Operations Team of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) conducted a site inspection of the Milton Logistics Hub Project on April 20, 2023. The project is in the construction phase. The inspection was carried out by Senior Enforcement Officer Julie Buron and Senior Enforcement Officer, Mathieu Trudelle. The inspection was part of the planned inspections for the project.
Site Inspection Details:
Over the 1-day inspection, multiple areas of the project were inspected. Those areas included Indian Creek and surroundings at 5127 Tremaine Road, and tributary A and surroundings at 5381 Tremaine Road, Milton.
Compliance with the following Decision Statement conditions were verified, where applicable.
- Condition 4 – Atmospheric Environment Condition 5 – Water
- Condition 6 – Terrestrial Environment Condition 7 – Fish and Fish Habitat Condition 8 – Wildlife
- Condition 11 – Physical and cultural heritage and structures, sites or things of historical, archaeological, paleontological or architectural significance
