Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
Construction of Canadian Forces Housing Agency (CFHA) Apartments, Row Houses, Duplexes, Access Roads and Site Services, 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton

October 28, 2024 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is planning the design and construction of new low rise apartment buildings, row houses and duplexes to meet housing needs. As such there is a requirement to build new roads to provide access to the new buildings, modifications to existing site services and new site services as required including:

  • Road design as per National Standards.
  • Streetlights including conduit and conductor cables.
  • Installation of water mains, sanitary and storm lines to existing services.
  • Consultant to determine required capacity required to service new housing.
  • Construction of two (2) 6-plex apartments, five (5) 4-plex rowhouses, six (6) duplexes with associated parking, sheds and green space.
  • Topsoil, landscaping and seeding.

The new duplexes will be constructed along the southwest side of Arras Avenue and northwest side of Flanders Crescent within 3rd Canadian Division Support Base Edmonton.
