Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
Aldershot Road Reconstruction – Canadian Forces Base Shilo

April 2, 2025 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed Road Reconstruction at Canadian Forces Base Shilo. In general, the work includes:

• Removal of existing roadway, sidewalks, storm sewer and watermain along Aldershot Road.
• New base, subbase granular materials and asphalt paving.
• New underground utilities including storm, sanitary, and water.

Asphalt paving will include all the necessary labour, tools, equipment, and materials for construction activities relating to asphalt paving works including the supply and install roadways, residential areas and any other areas associated with asphalt paving work.
