Pauingassi First Nation Child and Family Services Prevention Building and Staff Housing

 Public Comments Invited

02/05/2025 Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Pauingassi First Nation Child and Family Services Prevention Building and Staff Housing, located in Pauingassi First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

The Project involves the design and construction of a CFS Prevention Centre building (5,800 m2) and staff housing (1,700 m2) in Pauingassi First Nation. The Prevention Centre will include a garage, storage space, parking, road access, and outdoor learning and play areas.  The Staff Housing building will be a multi-dwelling building and will incude a garage.  The proposed project will be located in the northeast section of the community.  It will be situated southeast of the community school on undeveloped land.  Project activities will include clearing of .75 ha of forested land, excavation of bedrock, building construction, connection to utilities, landscaping and management of consruction wate materials.
