Bath Institution - Fire Reservoir Cleaning and Repair – Public Comments Invited

December 18, 2024 – The Correctional Service Canada must determine whether the proposed Bath Institution -  Fire Reservoir Cleaning and Repair located in Kingston, Ontario is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the Correctional Service Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

The Bath and Millhaven Institution Fire Reservoir, consisting of 2 underground water storage tanks, requires maintenance (cleaning, disinfection, and repairs). To facilitate this work, the water storage tanks need to be emptied, which entails the release of non-chlorinated water (approximately 1,170,000 L) into the environment.
