The Proposed Project

Valley Fiber Communications LP plans to install underground fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to all residential homes in Lake Manitoba, Buffalo Point First Nation, Black River First Nation, Wanipigow (Hollow Water), Ebb and Flow, Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Chemawawin Cree Nation, Fisher River Cree Nation, and A Kwis Ki Mahka. The project involves the installation of approximately 300 km of fiber optic cable in regions surrounding Winnipeg, and the remote northern route, west of Lake Winnipeg and up to Gillam, in the province of Manitoba.

The cable is to be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments.
