Tla-o-qui-aht Nation: Ty-Hystanis Phase 2 Subdivision – Public Comments Invited

January 24, 2026 – The authority must determine whether the proposed Tla-o-qui-aht Nation: Ty-Hystanis Phase 2 Subdivision, located in Esowista is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Ty-histanis Phase 2 is the second phase of the Ty-histanis residential development for the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nations' Esowista community. The work will include the development of 36 single-family and 2 multi-family residential lots on a single paved road (980 m in length), with new watermain, storm sewers, culverts, ditches, gravity sanitary sewer, sanitary pump station, sanitary forcemain, street lighting, box culvert. Work will include lot clearing, preparation and new home construction.
