Expansion of Training Centre Infrastructure – Garrison Petawawa

January 27, 2026 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) has proposed a project. The Department of National Defence proposes to expand a Training Complex at 4th Canadian Division Support Base Petawawa. The project will include approximately 23,000 m² of new construction and a renovation of their existing facility. The expanded training center will encompass seven new buildings to provide adequate workspace, instructional/training space, accommodation, heating and cooling plant, and associated facilities including washrooms, kitchen, and dining. Additionally, an electrical substation for power supply will be constructed.
