March 16, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed construction of the Micro Subdivision in Mississauga's of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Mississauga's of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) is proposing the development of a micro subdivision project involving 20 housing units ranging in size from 65 to 100 m2 (with an estimated 8,600 m2 of total construction area). Physical activities will include clearing of trees, grubbing, connection and installation of new sanitary sewer collection and potable water distribution networks to existing adjacent infrastructure, roadway construction, and construction of the 20 houses.
