Public Notice

May 8, 2026 – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

Written comments must be submitted by June 7, 2026 to contact identified on the project page.

The Proposed Project

City West Cable & Telephone Corp. prévoit l'installation souterraine de câbles de fibre optique afin de relier les foyers des collectivités de Mowachaht/Muchalaht et Sidney Island à des services Internet. Le projet comprend l'installation d'environ 3 km de câbles de fibre optique souterrain.

Les câbles devront être enfouis par forage dirigé, creusage ou à l'aide de conduits existants, ou une combinaison de ces méthodes, sur des chaussées existantes.
