Independent oversight committee

I'm not opposed to the mine but have not at all been convinced that it's an environmentally sound plan.  Kevin Morin's geohydrology findings are extremely concerning.  At present, I'm not confident that the mine is in the best long-term interests of the town and the province does not enforce penalties for environmental violations adequately.  To give some semblance of accountability for a company that will pack up and walk away in about a decade (leaving the land worse than they found it by any standard), an independent oversight committee is critical.  This committee (as put forth in the review process) needs to have members who are not involved in any level or form of government in order to be truly independent, and there must be guaranteed funding for the committee (from the mine) for the life of the project.  Simply trusting that the mine will operate in the best long-term interests of our town can't be our plan.
