Hammond Reef Gold Project

Projects that were undergoing a comprehensive study at the time the provisions of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 came into force will continue to follow the requirements of the former Act. Under the former Act, the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is responsible for conducting the comprehensive study of this project.

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited proposes the construction, operation, decommissioning and abandonment of a new open-pit gold mine and on-site metal mill, located 23 kilometres northeast of the town of Atikokan, Ontario. Mining would occur for 11 years, with an ore production capacity of 60 000 tonnes per day. The on-site metal mill would have an ore input capacity of 60 000 tonnes per day.
