I am writing to comment on the Global First Power’s proposed Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) at Chalk River. I strongly urge that this proposal be subjected to a full environmental assessment including a hearing with an independent panel and participant funding.

I suggest that if the proposal to move forward with small nuclear reactors is approved it will lead to a proliferation of under regulated nuclear reactors popping up across the country with very little community involvement, increased public exposures to routine emissions of ionizing radiation, and no real workable plan for clean up, decommissioning and waste management.

Thank you,

Jeff Brackett
