In support of an impact assessment of the Ontario Line

I am writing to request that the Imact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAA) conduct an impact assessment of the Ontario line.  The Brief submitted to the IAA on behalf citizens of Riverdale by the Save Jimmie Simpson and the Lakeshore East Advisory committee provide a strong rationale for the agency to conduct an assessment.  First and foremost the issue of public safety as identified in the brief needs careful review. That people live in close proximity to the proposed expansion and that the set backs do not satisfy the recommended requirements speaks to the need for a thorough assessment. As the Brief states: Given that more than 10% of railway accidents are collisions or derailments between stations and more than 35% of all rail-related fatalities occurred within rail corridors in six urban regions, the proposed expansion of rail corridor in a densely populated urban area and the resulting loss of setback distance pose significant safety concerns. Without a thorough assessment process the Ontario Line project threatens public safety.

Thank you.
