Text

It is very important for the federal government step in and not allow development on the DRAP lands within Pickering, Ont. that boarders along the Rouge National Park for the following reasons.  33 species that are federally protected live within this area that will be detrementally affected, hydrological flow will be drastically altered which would be environmenallly detrimental and environmentally harmful, drinking water quality drastically affected which feeds directly into Lake Ontario which is the drinking water for over 20 million people, destruction of vegetation, destruction of protected farm land and soil rated as the best in Ontario, carbon sequestration will be dramatically reduced, Climate emergency will dramatically harmed, air quality further reduced by reducing natural vegetation necessary in oxygen and CO2 balance for breathing, the lands are supposed to remain protected in perpetuity.  Without the Federal Government stepping in and proventing the Provincial governments intentions these lands will no longer exist as they currently do.
