Reasons for a Federal Assessment

On September 15, 2009, it was determined that an environmental assessment was required in relation to the project because Infrastructure Canada considered providing financial assistance to the proponent.

Project Description (as posted in the Notice of Commencement)

The Project involves construction of a new bridge in replacement of a single span bridge crossing Long Creek. The new bridge will consist of three 12.0 meters spans, a 7.32 meters wide bridge deck and 12.0 meters precast, pre-stressed, concrete stringers. The scope of the Project includes all physical activities associated with removal of the existing bridge and construction of the new bridge. The Project includes any related works, accesses, storage areas or other undertakings directly associated with the proposed works.

Final Decision

A decision was taken on November 20, 2009 and was that the authority may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the screening report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, the authority is of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
