Reasons for a Federal Assessment

On June 29, 2011, it was determined that an environmental assessment was required in relation to the project because Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions considered providing financial assistance to the proponent and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada considered providing financial assistance to the proponent.

Project Description (as posted in the Notice of Commencement)

The purpose of the project is to build a new two story hotel. The hotel will have 16 rooms, each with private bathrooms as well as a living room and a kitchen. The scope of the project covers the construction of the building, the exploitation of the hotel as well as all non-dissociable elements of these activities.

Final Decision

A decision was taken on September 7, 2011 and was that the authorities may exercise any power or perform any duty or function with respect to the project because, after taking into consideration the screening report and taking into account the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures, the authorities are of the opinion that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
